Action Selection is a process that needs to be performed in real time by which an AI agent determines what to do next. It involves choosing an action from a se of alternatives, with conflicting demands on the control scarce resources, based on the agent’s current state and the environmental context, which is dynamic and unpredictable.
There are two types of action selection. Action selection encounters two main difficulties: complexity and the definition of an action.
