Memetics

is the anthropological study of how ideas (memes) can be viewed through a Darwinian evolutionary lens. Memetics helps to explain how ideas diffuse in cultures much like genes with a lifecycle that mimics genetic evolution as it combines, mutates, and copies itself into other memes.
