Définition

Dispositif qui transforme une grandeur mesurée (température, pression, niveau, etc.) en une grandeur utilisable (intensité électrique, position, etc.) à l'aide d'au moins un transducteur et qui possède un organe de calcul interne (par exemple, un microprocesseur), un système de conditionnement du signal (programmable ou contrôlé) et une interface de communication bidirectionnelle.

Le capteur intelligent peut s'adapter aux situations et communiquer.
