La conception inversée est une méthode de conception pilotée par l’IA qui part des propriétés souhaitées d’un dispositif et travaille à rebours pour déterminer sa structure appropriée. Cette méthode diffère des méthodes traditionnelles de conception technique qui partent de la structure et étudient ensuite ses propriétés.
La méthode de conception inverse est nécessaire lorsque la théorie décrite par des équations et l’intuition humaine issue de l’expérience ne suffisent pas à construire la structure complexe du dispositif présentant les propriétés souhaitées. En photonique, elle est principalement utilisée pour parvenir à une meilleure miniaturisation des composants sans sacrifier les performances.
