Définition

Programmation ayant pour but de fournir une solution à un problème de nature combinatoire autrement que par une recherche exhaustive ou par un calcul formel direct.

On oppose programmation heuristique à programmation algorithmique : la programmation heuristique d'un ordinateur permet à celui-ci de s'adapter de façon autonome, le programme se modifiant en fonction des résultats obtenus.
