Définition
Le commutateur optique désigne une classe de dispositifs qui dirigent un signal optique d’un port d’entrée vers un port de sortie. La commutation peut s’appliquer sur tout le signal optique ou sur certaines composantes de celui-ci. Par exemple, dans un commutateur sélectif en longueur d’onde, certaines bandes spectrales du faisceau d’entrée sont acheminées vers différents ports de sortie.
